  • What is green energy ? (click for the answer)
    Any source and usage of energy that is safe and not harmful to the environment can be regarded as green energy.
  • What is the lower quartile JUPAS admission score ? (click for the answer)
    The minimum JUPAS score for the 2013 entry is 21. It is calculated from the sum of four HKDSE Core subjects and 1 best elective subject, using the following conversion scheme: 5**=7, 5*=6, 5=5, 4=4, 3=3, 2=2, 1=1, ‘unclassified’=0. Click here for more details.
  • What is the JUPAS code/number for studying Green Energy Science ? (click for the answer)
    The JUPAS code/number is: JS2510.
  • Is JS2510 a “broad-based admission” ? What does it exactly mean ? (click for the answer)
    It is sometimes called “broad-based admission” because the identical JUPAS number JS2510 is used for all programs provided by the HKBU Faculty of Science. Students will declare their choices of the major programs, e.g., choosing Green Energy Science as their majors, just before the end of their year-one studies.
  • What is the major difference between this Green Energy Science program and other environmental programs ? (click for the answer)
    One major focus of this Green Energy Science program is on teaching students various topics in energy generation, energy storage & transportation, and energy usages with zero pollution. We consider all these as proactive approaches for protecting our environment effectively, without sacrifice to our modern lifestyle.

    Yes, it provides scholarships, exchange and internship opportunities.
  • Do students need to have learnt Physics before in order for studying this Green Energy Science program ? (click for the answer)
    No, we do not assume our Green Energy Science students have studied Physics before. In fact, we have three study streams in our Green Energy Science program:   (i) Materials and Device Physics   (ii) Energy Management or Consultant   (iii) Environmental Science. Study streams (ii) and (iii) would be particularly suitable for students who love Green Energy Science, but do not love much about Physics.     There are three study streams in our Green Energy Science program for students to choose. Students will learn advanced Physics and technology if they choose the stream of “Materials and Device Physics”.     There are three study streams in our Green Energy Science program for students to choose. Students will learn advanced knowledge about Management and Economics in green energy if they choose the stream of “Energy Management or Consultant”.     There are three study streams in our Green Energy Science program for students to choose. Students will learn frontier knowledge about Biology and Chemistry in green energy if they choose the stream of “Environmental Science”. Students who love Green Energy Science, Biology, and Chemistry are encouraged to pick this study stream. Click here for more details.
  • Are students allowed to take courses from the other two study streams in this program? (click for the answer)
    Yes. As long as students will be finishing all core courses, they are free to take any other courses to define their own streams. In fact, they may also opt for core requirements only, and without any streams. Click here for more details.
  • Can students pursue advanced degrees (MSc, MPhil, PhD) after obtaining the Bachelor’s Degree in Green Energy Science ? (click for the answer)
    Yes. After the graduation, students can either choose to start their careers immediately or to pursue advanced degrees [e.g., Master of Science (MSc), Master of Philosophy (MPhil), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)] in the subject areas of Energy, Physics, Engineering, Environmental Science, etc.
