Chen Shumei (PhD 2014, BSc (Hons) in Physics, 2010)


Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Department of Physics, HKBU (2014-2016)


Published 15 papers in renowned journals including  Nature Materials, Physical Review Letter,  Nature Communications, Advanced Materials and Nano Letters.  


Dr. Chen received Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (200,000 Euros) in 2016 to support her two years’ (2017-2018) research at the Metamaterial Research Centre, University of Birmingham, UK.




Bruno Yue, CAI (PhD 2013)


Bruno Yue CAI is CEO of ANA Artwork Material Analysis Company Limited.  He received his PhD in Physics from HKBU in 2013 and did his post-doc at HKBU.  He was also a visiting scientist at the  Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in 2013.


ANA Artwork Material Analysis Company Limited uses cutting-edge laser technology to analyze artwork for clients’ conservation and authentication needs.   As CEO, Bruno is responsible for various aspects of the company, including the development of strategic plans to advance ANA’s mission and objectives; budget control and financial reviews; finalization of operational procedures, policies, and standards; promotion and representation of the company and networking.

Dick, Kwok Ka Cheung (PhD 2010)


Dick KWOK Ka Cheung received his BSc in 2004 and PhD in 2010 from HKBU.  He is currently a Senior Engineer at the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI).  He is involved in the optics design of healthcare devices, and in the signal processing and analysis of bio-signals.  He works with packaging design teams, customers and researchers to develop healthcare electronics products, as well as to conduct clinical trials and certifications. ASTRI was founded by the government in 2000 with a mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness in technology based industries through applied research.
