Junhong Deng employed experimental fabrication and numerical simulation to engineer chiral plasmons. (22-Feb-2016)


Detecting molecular chirality plays a key role in understanding biological functions. However, it is a challenging task since chirality-related molecular signals are ususally too weak to detect. Chiral plasmons are promising to amplify the signals, but currently little is known about chiral plasmons. Junhong Deng, a PhD candidate under supervision of Dr. Z.F. Huang and Dr. J. Ng, employed experimental fabrication and numerical simulation to engineer chiral plasmons, study chiroplasmonic mechanism, and exploit potential application of circular polarization. This work (Nanoscale 8 (2016): 4504-4510) was selected to contribute an inside front cover of Nanoscale.
