Facilities

The laboratory has extensive spectroscopy equipment, including a range of laser sources; Argon ion laser, He-Cd laser, Nitrogen Laser, Nd-YAG laser + OPO, Ti-saphhire laser + OPA and SHG. Low temperature cryostats; 10K and 4.2K. Photoluminescence set-up with Acton 0.5m monochromator, visible and IR detectors. The system (Figure 1) can measure PL, ns time-resolved PL, PL excitation and low temperature PL.

Figure 2 shows Argon ion laser in action, emitting at 488nm. The foreground laser is a He-Cd laser. Figure 3 has Spitfire amplifier of Spectral Physics in action, pumped by the Ti-sapphire laser and YLF-Nd laser.
