Near-infrared light photodetectors

High-sensitivity near infrared (NIR) photodetector has attracted significant interests due to a broad range of applications in thermal imaging, night-vision and wellness monitoring systems. The traditional inorganic photodetectors are made from the high-temperature epitaxial growth process, with a limitation for use in large area NIR photodetection. The emerging organic electronics offer additional advantages such as huge variety of material choices, versatile device fabrication capabilities, and large area processing flexibility. This project has two internships. Interns will participate the following research and development:

1. To study the properties of organic photodetectors for NIR detection

2. To measure and analyze the performance of organic NIR photodetectors for applications in NIR visualization and non-destructive detection of fruits.

The selected interns will work closely with Crimson Vision Technology Limited, a Hong Kong based start-up company, to develop NIR detecting technologies.
