11/10/2023 Outreach STEM Activities: Workshop on Building Materials for Energy Efficiency Improvement
Story: On 11/10/2023, Dr MH CHAN and his 3 HKBU Physics student teams conducted an outreach workshop. The outreach workshop aims at teaching school students the methodology of characterizing the light transmittance of window sun control films in the application of saving energy consumption in buildings. The Department of Physics distributed 10 sets of 4-channel spectrometers (one of the STEM educational kits developed by the Department of Physics) and applied the spectrometers for determining the light transmissions at 4 different wavelength channels, namely, ultraviolet, green, red, and infrared channels. The total number of participations were 40, including HKBU and school teachers/students.
