GEST Student Awarded 2025 IET PES Outstanding Power and Energy Engineering Graduate Award

Mr Wong Tak Shun, a recent outstanding graduate from the BSc in Green Energy and Smart Technology (GEST) programme, has been selected for the 2025 IET PES Outstanding Power and Energy Engineering Graduate Award. This prestigious award, issued by the IET Hong Kong Power & Energy Section (PES), aims to recognize his outstanding academic achievements and strong potential to contribute to the power and energy industry.

As part of the award, Mr Wong Tak Shun had the opportunity to join a three-day visit to the CLP Power Learning Institute (CLPPLI) in August, together with a group of outstanding students from the PolyU x Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) programme.

The three-day visit features technical lectures covering topics such as system control, generation, transmission and distribution. It also includes interactive experiences and guided visits to various training facilities, including the Overhead Line Training School, Cable Jointing Workshop, Electrical Fitting Workshop, and 400kV Extra-high Voltage Substation. The visit concluded with insightful sharing sessions from the System Operation Department and discussions on renewable energy and storage systems, as well as operational challenges related to distributed renewable energy. This event aims to give students a comprehensive understanding of the latest technologies and equipment used in modern power systems.
