Professor Guancong MA awarded Grant from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC)

We are proud to announce that Professor Guancong MA (Department of Physics, HKBU) has been awarded a prestigious funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). The project titled “Non-Hermitian Topology and Its Research in Wave Systems” awarded the amount RMB 4 million.

Professor MA has been leading pioneering research in classical wave physics, in particular the areas of acoustic metamaterials and topological physics. The topics of interests include acoustic metamaterials, elastic metamaterials, phononic crystals, wavefield shaping, non-Hermitian wave system, etc. His research findings have been published in top-tier international journals including Science, Nature, Nature Physics, Nature Photonics, Physical Review X, and Physical Review Letters. 

Professor MA’s exceptional academic impact has been further acknowledged by multiple prestigious honours. In 2022, Professor MA is one of three awardees of Chen Ning Yang Award by the Association of Asia Pacific Physical Societies (AAPPS) and the Asia Pacific Centre for Theoretical Physics (APCTP). He was selected as one of the “Top 10 Rising Stars in Science and Technology” by the China Association for Science and Technology in 2021.
