Sustainability Workshop: Protect, Reduce and Innovate
Sustainability Workshop: Protect, Reduce and Innovate
On April 17, 2026, the HKBU Department of Physics hosted an engaging sustainability workshop for students and teachers from CNEC Lee I Yao Memorial Secondary School. This event was a core component of the service-learning activities within GCAP3255 (Sustainable Lifestyles: Energy Management and Green Mobility), a General Education course focused on energy sustainability.

Led by course instructor Dr. Choi and six HKBU students, the workshop used interactive game booths, team challenges, science knowledge quizzes and hands-on projects to promote green practices in the enjoyable way. A major highlight was the construction of mini solar-powered cars, allowing participants to experience renewable concepts firsthand.

Through the theme of Protect, Reduce, and Innovate, both secondary school participants and HKBU students gained deeper insights into pressing environmental issues and were inspired to explore creative solutions for building more sustainable communities. This workshop also highlighted the Department of Physics’ efforts in general education on energy and sustainability, helping to raise broader public awareness of environmental protection.
