Workshop “Non-Hermitian topology and skin effects” on Dec. 9-10, 2024
Recently, the Department of Physics hosted a workshop entitled "Non-Hermitian Topology and Skin Effects" at RRS 905, Ho Sin Hang Campus, HKBU. Seven experts from Japan, Singapore, and mainland China were invited to present their outstanding research. The workshop also attracted numerous other scholars, including Prof. Kunkun Wang from Anhui University, Prof. Haoran Xue and Prof. Yan Yangqian from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Prof. Shubo Wang from City University of Hong Kong.
Non-Hermitian topology and skin effects have become prominent topics in the field of non-Hermitian physics. The non-Hermitian skin effect has been successfully observed in various systems, including acoustic systems, quantum walks, electrical circuits, and elastic wave systems. The related dynamic skin effects can give rise to several intriguing phenomena, such as the non-Hermitian edge burst, the non-Hermitian dynamic sticky effect, and self-healing properties. The invited talks stimulated intense discussions among the participants.
The workshop was organized by Prof. Guancong Ma and his research group, with additional support from the Research Office of HKBU.
