21-22/07/2022 Outreach STEM Activities: Energy Harvesting from Doing Exercises
Story: Leading by Dr MH CHAN, BSc students studying PHYS2026 Renewable Energy Technology in AY2021-2022 developed 5 sets of piezoelectric energy converters (Fig. 1) for distributing to school teachers/students as demonstration kit of energy harvesting from human motions. School students then used these educational kits as a prototype for further development of energy harvesting device during doing exercises. Dr MH CHAN and his team conducted 2-day STEM activities and helped school students to implement their energy harvesting educational kits, where the kit designs were proposed by school teachers and students (Figs. 2-6).
At the end of the 2-day workshops, the Department of Physics was presented the flag for appreciation of HKBU students’ and Dr MH Chan’s effort. The group photo is added.Fig 1. Educational kits: Piezoelectric Energy Converters | |
